Brand Challenge Wrap Up
The beginning of semester two went out with a bang with the launch of Brand Challenge 2016!
Brand Challenge is MCC’s annual marketing case competition, where students with and without marketing backgrounds have the opportunity to apply their marketing knowledge, along with their and analysis and teamwork skills to a real world business scenario.
This year’s case was Yellow Labs, a company providing customer-centric, problem solving design solutions. Yellow Labs is problem lead, and allows the customer to inform their understanding of the world. The challenge presented to teams by Yellow Labs was to define and analyse potential channels-to-market for their new app Yocto – an app that supports communities by fostering leadership and interpersonal connection.
Teams were presented with a verbal pitch from Yellow Labs, giving insight into their business model and current challenges around the launch of Yocto. Teams then had three days to submit a written proposal. From there, the top five teams were invited to attend the final round, and each of these five teams had to transform their written proposal into a PowerPoint presentation, which they then presented to a panel of judges from Yellow Labs.
With a massive 30 teams and around 90 students participating in this year’s brand Challenge, competition was indeed fierce and the level of standard of proposals from teams was incredible. Congratulations to the winning team Urban Candy: Ankit Choudhary, Du gia huynh, Syed Asir Haque and Christopher Daniel Hayes.
