Science & Innovation Competition Wrap Up

The start of the second semester of 2016 saw students with a renewed motivation in their fields of study. With this motivation, close to 60 students took part in MCC’s Science and Innovation Case Competition, where they are given an opportunity to apply their knowledge of the sciences to tackle real world issues.

This year the case was Orion Health, a global healthcare platform with an emphasis on precision medicine. Teams had 24 hours to prepare a presentation outlining their creative strategies and well-reasoned logic. With access to the internet, there were plenty of resources to give teams the best chance to come up with something that would impress the judges.

With fierce competition between each division, the four top teams competed in the finals in front of a panel of industry judges. The calibre of performances was incredibly high, and our judges were blown away with the standard of what was presented.

Congratulations to the winning team Bowen Shi, Kevin Howe, Danielle Ou and Anthony Yelavich, and well done to all of this year’s participants! Also a big thank you to our guest judges Stephane Cornille and George Culver who challenged teams to think beyond the case and provided further insight into the industry.

We look forward to hosting the competition again in 2017!
